HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 13 // -- Some of the most respected publications of the American West and publishing have added a highly-recognized name to the short list of truly authentic western writers -- best-selling author L. Ron Hubbard.

In reviewing Six Gun Caballero, one of Hubbard's classic western stories recently released in book, audiobook, and ebook form by Galaxy Press, American Cowboy Magazine and Booklist Magazine favorably compared Hubbard alongside the names of western legends Louis L'Amour, Zane Grey, and Max Brand.

"If proof were needed that L. Ron Hubbard could handle the Western with the flair of a Louis L'Amour or Zane Grey, this book is it," said American Cowboy Magazine. And Booklist Magazine referred to Hubbard's work as "... solid genre prose style and ambitious theme, the story bears comparison to such notable western writers as Max Brand."

Six Gun Caballero is available as a book and audiobook at Barnes & Noble, Borders and Books-A-Million, in ebook format in all popular formats and as digital download at Audible.com. The next of Hubbard's western stories to be released will be "Under the Diehard Brand" in October.

"L. Ron Hubbard grew up in the Montana frontier and personally understood the history and culture of the West," said Gunhild Jacobs, Author Services, Inc. Executive Director for Trade Operations, Hubbard's literary agency since 1982. "His fascination with the West became the foundation for 38 of his pulp stories."

"You have to be the real deal in order to get consistently rave reviews for stories that cross multiple generations -- and Hubbard is just that," added Jacobs.

Six Gun Caballero is part of a collection of 80 novels and 150 short stories written by Hubbard during the 1930s and 40s, called Stories from the Golden Age. The series of books complete with their original pulp art is being released over six years.

"The series represents one of the largest releases of short fiction ever published for a single author," Jacobs said. "We're hoping to make publishing history."
